Before
“Is there a free trial? Yes. Every new account starts with free balance, enough for dozens of generations with RD Fast. No payment details required.”
After
“Images start at $0.03 each and new accounts start with $0.50 of balance, no card needed. Top up from $5; your balance never expires. All generated art can be used commercially.”
What changed for game devs
The free trial used to be described only as "enough for dozens of generations with RD Fast". Retro Diffusion's redesigned homepage now states the amount: $0.50 of balance for new accounts, no card needed. At $0.03 per RD Fast image, that is 16 images. Top-ups start at $5, and the FAQ says your balance never expires, which matters if you buy credit for a jam and come back months later.
Unchanged: per-image prices (RD Fast $0.03, RD Plus $0.06, RD Pro $0.18, animations from $0.07), and the FAQ still says generated art can be used commercially.
From our Retro Diffusion page: the site lists export to Godot, Unity and Unreal, and the same models are available over a REST API and an MCP server at the same prices.
Change log entry
Retro Diffusion redesigned its homepage and FAQ. The free trial is now a stated amount: $0.50 of balance, no card, "enough for 16 RD Fast images or 2 RD Pro images" (the old FAQ said "enough for dozens of generations with RD Fast"). The FAQ now also says top-ups start at $5 and never expire. Per-image prices are unchanged (RD Fast $0.03, RD Plus $0.06, RD Pro $0.18, animations from $0.07), and the FAQ still says you own your outputs for commercial games.
