Before
“Standard top-down is 1–4 generations (usually 3–4), sidescroller is 2–3 , and Pro is 10–25 depending on canvas size. Jobs that fail are not charged.”
After
“Standard is 1 generation , top-down or sidescroller — the older per-stage pricing (1–4 for top-down, 2–3 for sidescroller) belonged to the model it replaced and is retired. Pro is priced by tile size, the same on both tabs: 15 generations for tiles up to 32px and 25 above that .”
What changed for game devs
Tilesets are now easier to budget. A Standard tileset, top-down or sidescroller, costs a flat 1 generation; PixelLab's docs say the older per-stage pricing belonged to the model it replaced and is retired. Pro is now priced by tile size on both tabs: 15 generations for tiles up to 32px and 25 above that. Failed jobs are still not charged.
The old Pro range of 10–25 is our earlier record: it is the docs wording our checker stored on Oct 22 and last confirmed Oct 29. We have no public archive of that version. The only Internet Archive copy this month (Oct 2) shows a different, earlier range: "Pro is 20–40 depending on canvas size."
Separately, PixelLab's Terms of Service now read "Last Updated: 2026-10-30" (an Oct 17 archive copy read 2025-11-23). The ownership and commercial-use clauses we quote on our PixelLab page are unchanged; we have not diffed the rest of the terms.
