OpenAI ChatGPT and GPT API vs Player2: pricing, commercial use, and license

The API pricing page lists gpt-image-2.5-sunburst at $8.00 input, $30.00 output, and $2.00 cached input for image tokens, per 1M tokens. ChatGPT plan prices were not quoted here because the ChatGPT pricing page blocked our checker.

The FAQ says there are no fees to use Player2: a free daily recharge covers premium models and the gpt-oss-120b model is free. The creators page says Player2 pays all API costs and creators pay nothing.

OpenAI's Terms of Use for individuals cover ChatGPT and its image tools. They say you own the Output and OpenAI assigns you its rights in it, to the extent the law allows. The terms do not split this by free or paid plan.

The creators page says Player2 is free for creators and they receive a donation of 10% of Player2's gross revenues. It does not set out a separate commercial license for shipping a game.

The Services Agreement covers the API, ChatGPT Business, and ChatGPT Enterprise. The customer owns all Output, and OpenAI assigns its rights in it.

The Terms of Service say that, as between you and Elefant AI, you own the Models you create and the text, images, audio or video they generate that you elicit.

Output may not be unique, and other users can get similar output. Your ownership does not extend to someone else's similar output.

You grant Elefant AI a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, royalty-free license to use, modify and commercialize your Model and its Generations for any purpose, including letting other users interact with it and promoting the service.

Player-facing art, sound, narrative, or localization made with this tool is the kind of shipped content Steam's Content Survey asks about (Pre-Generated). This is Valve's rule, not a statement from the vendor.

NPC dialogue generated while the game runs is Live-Generated content on Steam, and you must describe your guardrails against illegal output. Pre-Generated rules still apply.

The Image API returns base64 image data, PNG by default, with JPEG or WebP on request. Engine import is up to you.
